“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking, and don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart,…you’ll know when you find it.” — Steve Jobs
I grew up in Adelaide and my family moved to Sydney when I was 13 years old. I had always enjoyed drawing and I had a passion to move into graphic design. When I left school, I got an apprenticeship in Pre-Press which set me up in good stead for a creative career down the track. I worked for quite a few printing houses until I eventually got a job as a graphic designer at a Label Printing business.
After having two children (my lovely girls Hannah and Claire), I continued to freelance and work on my own projects. My focus shifted career wise and I wanted to explore working in the humanities sector, so I studied and gained my cert 4 in Nursing and also Mental Health, and 2 Diplomas, one in Community Services and the other in Counselling. I worked for about 8 years across Nursing and Case Management in Mental Health and Fostercare. Since my rather spectacular health breakdown in 2016, I am now focused on drawing and writing when I feel up to it.
My home is my sanctuary from the world, and my children and my cats are a daily source of joy to me.
